I am cautiously optimistic about Andy Murray's comeback, says mother Judy
In an interview to BBC, Andy Murray's mother Judy said she is cautiously optimistic about the British player's chances to get back to the competition. Murray hit against the wall at Wimbledon a few weeks ago. "It is still early days so we will have to wait and see", said Judy. "He was told not to do impact work, which basically means running around the garden hitting a ball, for three months but he’s been hitting against a wall from a static position.”
On how Great Britain's Fed Cup team can improve, the former captain Judy said: “You probably need a world top ten player, a pretty solid No.2 singles player and a doubles specialist to compete with the top nations and while we are getting somewhere near that now, we need more. I’d love to see the team win against this weekend against Kazakhstan and get into the World Group, but the level in the top division is a few steps up again and that’s why we need to continue to push to get more girls playing the game in Britain. We have to expand the game to a wider audience and that is why some of the programmes ‘She Rallies‘ and ‘Miss-Hits‘ that are all about growing the number of girls playing the game, competing and coaching are so important."
Murray last played an official match in this year's Australian Open losing to the Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut in a five-set first round match. We will see if he will actually be able to return and especially do at his highest level.
