Novak Djokovic's strategy analyst reflects on match against Kohlschreiber

Novak Djokovic's strategy analyst Craig O'Shannessy has given his thoughts on the Serb's Monte Carlo second round win over German Philipp Kohlschreiber.

The world No. 1 struggled in his first clay match of the season but found a way to beat the German 6-3 4-6 6-4.

Djokovic won the opening set after saving four break points but Kohlschreiber kept pressing as he broke the Serb four times in a row during the second set to force a decider.

However, the No. 1 seed regained his focus as the beginning of the third set as he broke the German in the opening game and then held on to his serve to clinch a win.

Djokovic plays next against rising American star Taylor Fritz.

"You'd think that the best players in the world are always on, but they're not. His (Djokovic's) game's not there. Tons of balls into the net, but he found a way," O'Shannessy told The First Serve.

O'Shannessy was also looking forward to watching rising Canadian star Felix Auger-Aliassime against Alexander Zverev.

"Felix is having a wonderful year, especially on clay in South America. I haven't seen Felix play a lot, so I'm very interested to see that match to have a close up look at the future of the game," O'Shannessy said.

Auger-Aliassime failed to stun Zverev as the world No. 3 claimed a 6-1 6-4 win to progress to the Monte Carlo round-of-16.
