Olivia Rogowska: I'm not looking too far ahead

Olivia Rogowska's spectacular form in Canberra continued on when she won the ACT Claycourt International No. 2, defeating Priscilla Hon in straight sets.

Rogowska said she felt at home in Canberra, where she spent some time in her childhood. "I just feel very comfortable here, I lived at the AIS for a few years when I was younger so I have really good memories here," Rogowska said.

“I love the facilities and gym and restaurant here, it's always a pleasure coming back, I feel right at home in Canberra. I love it."

Speaking about the match, she said, “Today was tough, it was extremely windy conditions and kind of gusty all over the place so it wasn’t easy to adjust and get used to it. Priscilla is tough, she serves and returns really well so I had to stay focused, the first set could have gone either way but I played well in the important points.”

“Then in the second set I had the momentum and I played some really good tennis. I was really pleased with how I closed it out. I'll head to the [United] States in a couple of days and play some larger claycourt events and hopefully, I can bring all this moment into the next tournament and keep the streak going.”

Speaking about goals ahead, she added, "I'm not looking too far ahead, last year I battled flu and colds and this year I'm trying to focus on staying healthy and relaxed. If I do the simple stuff right I can play really good tennis. Hopefully, I get back in the grand slam qualifying and start making some damage on that level.”

"I've been doing this for a while but I'm still feeling pretty mentally fresh and physically pretty fresh so I'll just keep the fire going. The average age just keeps getting older in tennis so I just have to believe what I'm doing is right and I'll go for a while longer."
