Pundit makes Novak Djokovic-Daniil Medvedev match prediction

The Sky Sport pundit Claudio Mezzadri commented on the upcoming match between Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev. The Russian is coming from his win over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the third round but Mezzadri believes that the Serb will go through. "He may be the most confident player", said Mezzadri on Medvedev. "He improved a lot in the end of last year, clay is not his best surface but his game is about instinct and risks, he takes huge risks on second serve too. I do not think that will be enough against Djokovic but he will play a good match."

On Fabio Fognini's win over Alexander Zverev, Mezzadri added: "Fabio managed to break the ice, he struggled against Andrey Rublev in the first round and he changed the dynamic. He turned the match in a miracolous way and Gilles Simon's withdrawal made him being more positive. Today Fabio got focus, consistency and speed to play well and aim to go far in the tournament. Now he faces Borna Coric next. The Croat fights, he makes matches physical even if he is not playing very well although he only dropped off just six games to Pierre-Hugues Herbert. But it's a Masters 1000 quarter-final and he can win."

On Marco Cecchinato's loss to Guido Pella, Mezzadri concluded: "It was a big fight. Cecchinato dealt with a back issue in the end of the first set but he continued until the end, he won the second. Pella is going through a good momentum, he played very well especially on the backhand side and that's where the Italian struggled the most", concluded the former Switzerland Davis Cup captain.
