Rafael Nadal: 'My team is not afraid to tell me what's wrong'

In an interview, Rafael Nadal commented on the reasons that led him to reside in his birthplace, Mallorca. The world No. 2 said: "We have good conditions there. The weather is great to practice sport, that's lucky, and we had the right facilities as kids to practice as much as we had to and we had the opportunity to play tournaments outside Spain. The role of our families was very important for our families, Carlos Moya and me. They are not afraid to tell me what's good, what's bad. That gave me confidence and power to work hard, I always have doubts and I think that's good because it always made me work very hard and once I start a new year, I never know if I will still be the No. 3, 2, 1."

Nadal does not really care a lot about the rankings: "What makes me happy is to wake up every morning and feel that I am happy and healthy to compete against everybody. That's the most important thing. When I arrive at a tennis tournament, I feel I can win or lose but to have a chance to win makes me happy. I try to work every day to be ready when the opportunities come. I would have never thought I could win 11 French Opens and I am very grateful to the people who help me keep going in the tough times."
