Roger Federer doesn't think he will win French Open - Rusedski

Speaking on Amazon Prime the former world No. 4 Greg Rusedski commented on Roger Federer's expectations for the clay-court season. The Brit believes the Swiss does not have too many chances. "He doesn’t think he’s going to win the French Open, let's be honest. He thinks it is going to be Rafa Nadal, Novak Djokovic or some of the other guys who are going to win Paris", said Rusedski. "Last time he got stuck when he went out early at Indian Wells and Miami. He didn’t want to make that mistake twice.”

On Federer's possibilities to lead the rankings again, Rusedski concluded: "He is No 4 in the world right now and does not care about being No 1. But he is still continuously winning. He is the only player to win two titles this year. At 37 years of age, as long as he can keep playing, please keep doing it."

Daniela Hantuchova believes that breaking Jimmy Connors' 109 titles record will be a bigger priority as the time goes on for Federer: “I think when he gets closer to 107 or 108 then he may consider playing some smaller tournaments. I do believe that he will do nothing about it. He says it is such a long way and he will have to play for many more years to get to 109. We would all love for him to play the smaller tournaments. We have already made a schedule for him until 2025. I think it is really just playing the next match and next tournament.”
