Roger Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Murray were unbeatable - Nishikori's coach

In an interview to Punto de Break the Kei Nishikori's coach Dante Bottini said that he believes the generation of the Japanese player, Milos Raonic, Grigor Dimitrov and David Goffin is not lost. "They have been playing unbelievable tennis, but they had to face Rafa Nadal, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray. There was a moment where those four fantastic players seemed unbeatable for the others. Juan Martin del Potro was unlucky to get injured", said Bottini, a longtime Nishikori's coach.

But Kei beat them all. "That's good, that he did important things, but here from winning a Masters 1000 or a Grand Slam you have to do something extra."

Can it be the right year? "It can be. This year everything is very strange, there is a change, I see a lot of new people winning and top players are not as consistent as before. We will see how the season goes on, hopefully, this year we make a breakthrough, you have to be working being humble and with a ready mindset."

On how Nishikori can keep himself pain-free, Bottini concluded: "The main thing in order not to get injured it's to work hard physically and have a good physiotherapist, which is all that we are doing. In the beginning, he got injured more, then he got injured less. They are circumstances, now there may be a risk to get injured more because he is a more veteran player and you have to give them the rest they need, but you always had players who get injured more than others. Now there are players who at 29-30 years are starting to win their first Masters 1000 tournaments and other big events, so hopefully, it's Kei's case too."
