Roger Federer plans to have farewell tour this year, suggests Mouratoglou

In an interview to Ouest France, Serena Williams's coach Patrick Mouratoglou commented on the Roger Federer's comeback to the clay-courts for the first time since 2016. In February Federer clarified that he took this decision not because he plans to have a farewell tour this year, but just because he wants to play on the dirt again. "For the French tennis, it's great. We cannot do anything but think that, if he does it, it's because it will be his last year and he wants to play all the four Grand Slams. Because it's a totally uncommon choice compared to what he did for three years. He already mentioned it, but this decision may mean that he does not want to win Wimbledon this year but play all the major tournaments. I am happy with it. I do not see any other rational explanations, but Roger is a very rational person in all what he does", said Mouratoglou.

It shoes she has mental qualities that belong to a champion and that are higher than players who managed to win a Major but were not consistent like Caroline Wozniacki, Simona Halep, Angelique Kerber, Garbine Muguruza... Osaka is on a higher dimension. She embraces the present and future of tennis."

Serena will be back to compete in next month's Rome Open where she last triumphed in 2017 beating her compatriot Madison Keys in the final.
