Stefanos Tsitsipas, Felix Auger-Aliassime ready for Barcelona Open
Rising Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas has arrived in Barcelona in great spirits as he is hoping to have a good campaign at the Barcelona Open.
The 20-year-old is set to make back-to-back appearances on the clay of Barcelona as he debuted at the tournament last year.
The Greek almost made a splash in his Barcelona debut as he won five matches in straight sets before losing in the final to 17-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal.
Tsitsipas, seeded at No. 5 in the Barcelona main draw, has a first-round bye at the tournament as he awaits the winner of the match between Marton Fucsovics and Denis Kudla.
World No. 8 Tsitsipas kicked off his 2019 clay-court campaign at the Monte Carlo Masters, where he got edged out by fellow rising star Daniil Medvedev in a tight round-of-16 match.
"Really happy to be once again in this great tournament and lovely city," Tsitsipas said of Barcelona, per Barcelona Open Twitter.
Meanwhile, rising Canadian star Felix Auger-Aliassime has also arrived in good spirits as he is hoping to perform well in his debut campaign at the Barcelona event.
The 16th-seeded Canadian will also have a first-round bye campaign before he plays against either Malek Jaziri or Philipp Kohlschreiber in the second round.
The 19-year-old also opened his clay season in Monte Carlo, where he lost in the second round to Alexander Zverev.
"I've had time to rest and I'm here to give my 100 per cent," Auger-Aliassime said, per Barcelona Open Twitter.
