Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are ultimate warriors, says Boris Becker
Speaking on the BBC, the six-time Major winner Boris Becker commented on this year's Wimbledon semifinals match between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. The German former player said: “It’s the one match where every tennis player alive is going to tune in. It’s two ultimate warriors: one with 20 majors [Federer], the other with 19 [Nadal].”
John McEnroe added: “You can overhype a match, but I don’t think you can overhype this one."
Jim Courier said: "These players are taking care of themselves, doing a lot more pre-and post-stretching. They have a lot more knowledge [because of] their phsysio [therapists], who travel with them. There are more financial incentives. If you were the 80th player ranked in the world in 1995, your economic incentive to stay on the tour at the age when most people would like to start a family was not there. Economics drive a lot.”
Analyzing his season Nadal said: "Of course, the last two months have been very positive for me personally, probably for Roger, too, because he played good semifinals in Roland Garros. He had the title in Halle. That makes us keep playing because we still feeling that we have chances to compete for the most important things. That's what really make us keep playing with this intensity."
Patrick Mouratoglou spoke about Cori Gauff. "I do not like comparing players and I will not do it. I think it's impossible to see someone like Serena because Serena is the greatest player of all time. I do not think Coco wants to be the new Serena. She wants to be Coco Gauff. She has the potential. She came to the Academy and she went through a test to enter in at 10 years. I remember that I did not have to ask myself a lot because she was already incredible at ten years. She improved very quickly and she still have a big room for improvements."
