Tsitsipas: 'I watched Nadal, Federer and Djokovic at eight years of age'
In an interview with Sky Sport, Stefanos Tsitsipas commented on what he feels special about the Monte Carlo Masters. The Greek player, who resides here, said: "Monte Carlo was one of the first tournaments where I watched players competing. Federer, Nadal, Djokovic... A lot of great memories from this place this tournament has a lot of history, my mom won it 40 years ago when it taking place on the women's side. I am really I got to develop in a way that I am able to play here one day. It's really special. I love playing on the dirt, there is just something different... It's like you play another game. You got to concentrate more on the rallies, you need to have a different mindset."
Tsitsipas also spoke about his relationship with clay: "Clay is the surface I've played the most on over the years. When I come back to it, I feel very comfortable and familiar with what I have to do. I have a better connection with clay than any other surface."
On Nadal, his uncle Toni said: "Rafael will not have it easy because he faces very good players like (Alexander) Zverev, (Novak) Djokovic, (Roger) Federer, but I see him as an ultimate favourite. Despite all his injuries, Rafa was always able to be world No. 1 or 2 since 2005. It means that he never gave up for anything, and that's what I always tell the kids of the Academy".
