What Rafael Nadal achieved is not easy, says Uncle Toni

In an interview to La Tercera, Rafael Nadal's uncle Toni praised the 17-time Grand Slam winner's legacy in tennis. "For the Spanish tennis, Rafael will be a reference point for many years. What he achieved is not easy. And then at world level, he is one of the best players ever. But besides titles, he is an example for the new generations. Besides the way of winning or not a match, it's about how to win it, the sacrifice, the commitment", said Toni.

On Christian Garin, who trained at the Rafa Nadal Academy for a while, Toni added: "I know him a lot. He trained with us in Manacor. The first time I saw him was in Chile, in the Vina del Mar Open. I remember he played a great match against Jeremy Chardy and that impressed me. I think with Garin it lacked a bit of passion. Passion to keep the mind clear in points. He definitely has a great future. I followed him a lot because I think he is very talented. We trained together and he has good potential. But a bit of passion lacked in some moments. When he will have more, he will be on the top 100. He needs to make this final step. When he does it, he will be at the top."

On Nicolas Jarry, Toni added: "I heard comments on his high quality. But I never saw him playing so far." What does he mean with passion? "Passion is passion. For example, more strength. But he has good shots, great forehand and privileged body."
