Alexander Zverev: 'I have been the best clay-courter after Nadal, Thiem'

Alexander Zverev has come to the BMW Munich Open in his bid to win his third title in a row there. Speaking before the beginning of his campaign, the world No. 3 said: "Munich is a place where everything started so well for me. Two years ago I won here, then in Rome. Here I have a lot of positive energy. I hope the year will turn around here. I am just playing bad, that's not a secret. I have to win one or two matches so that things will to better again." Zverev still considers himself the third best clay-courter over the last years with Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem. "That has not changed."

In an interview to SRF the expert Heinz Gunthard analyzed Roger Federer's chances in the clay-court season. Gunthard said: "Federer needs a bit more time to fit the circumstances. But it's also a sign of great class that he can win even by not playing his best tennis."

On the other rivals, Gunthard added: "Nadal is the great dominator on clay. You cannot beat Nadal at his best. But there is a question mark every year with Rafa. The rest of the competition, Roger can handle it. You cannot expect Federer to go on forever. But if Federer can keep playing this way, he can be one of the top favourites in Wimbledon and US Open too. What he showed again over the last few weeks - who can deal with him."
