Aryna Sabalenka Confirms Participation in Libema Open

Tennis - World No. 10 Aryna Sabalenka has confirmed her participation in the Libema Open in the Netherlands from June 10 to June 16th, making her the second Top 10 player in the world to confirm her presence at the grass-court event after World No. 7 Kiki Bertens, of the Netherlands. This will be the second time that Sabalenka will be visiting the grass courts of Autotron 's-Hertogenbosch. She reached the quarter-finals of the event last year when she was ranked No. 46 in the world. The Belarusian went on to reach the finals at Eastbourne last year on the grass where she scored wins over sixth seed Julia Goerges, ninth-seeded Elise Mertens, second-seeded Karolina Pliskova and former World No. 2 Agnieszka Radwanska before going down to top-seeded Caroline Wozniacki in the final.

Sabalenka has won three titles in her career - the Shenzhen Open in 2019 and the Wuhan and New Haven events in 2018. She is being coached by Russian Dmitry Tursunov, who knows a thing or two about playing on grass - he had won the Rosmalen ATP event in 2011 on grass.

Other players who have confirmed their participation in the tournament include 18th ranked Elise Mertens, of Belgium, and 20th ranked Belinda Bencic, of Switzerland. This is a combined ATP/ WTA event and the men's field includes Stefanos Tsitsipas, David Goffin, Frances Tiafoe, Fernando Verdasco and Robin Haase. Former World No.1 Lleyton Hewitt will participate in the doubles field. The event serves as one of the key warm-up events for the Wimbledon Championships later in June.

Last year, France's Richard Gasquet won the men's singles event while Serbian Aleksandra Krunic won the women's singles event.
