Federer, Djokovic, Nadal always beat us in big matches - Gasquet
In an interview to Europe 1, Richard Gasquet commented on the French Open favourites and on his expectations ahead of the tournament. "Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Gaël Monfils both reached the semifinals. But we fight with Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Roger Federer every time. We are not as strong as them, and in the big matches, they always beat us. They have everything a bit stronger both in terms of body and technique. No one can be compared to Federer, he is the greatest player ever."
"Playing the French Open is always a pleasure even if I do not have the goals I could in the previous years. I will do my best. Nadal is the biggest favourite."
On French Open possibly introducing an outfits rule like Wimbledon, Gasquet added: "It's 2019, everyone wears what he wants. Look at Andre Agassi's shorts at the end of the 80s. Everyone speaks of it today."
Apart from sports, who does Nadal admire? "The good people. The guys who help others without being famous", said the Spaniard who also encouraged tennis authorities to make the rules evolve: "We need to improve, and we need to create the right show for the spectators and for the future health of our sport, and it's something that can improve. Why not the people who run the sport have to work on this? And is not only about playing tiebreaks or playing to four games the sets. It has really changed the way that we play and change something that what really affects the game itself."
