Goal is to sell one million tickets from 2021-25 ATP Finals, says organizer

In a conference call earlier this week in Turin, Italy's Tennis Federation chief Angelo Binaghi commented on the ATP Finals being held in Italy from 2021 to 2025.

Binaghi shared the secrets behind this great achievement. "Six things happened for the first time ever. The First one is that an Italian Government decided, for the first time, to invest in tennis. They had done it previously for other sports. We never got money from public authorities. Now we are happy that the Government supported us from the beginning to the end. That's why we are grateful and happy to have come here. The second thing is that Turin is a big Italian city that has an indoor venue that is able to host such an event. And its Mayor, Chiara Appendino, even played tennis on a professional level that gave her strength. We are here also thank to her because among the other things she also helped us in two or three very tough moments. The third rare thing is that all the local authorities helped us. Then in Italy we have a bank that supports the sports. That handed us a big help, and the fifth thing is that ATP wanted to play in Europe and we have had an enormous success through the Rome Open and NextGen ATP Finals. The sixth and last thing is that we have so many Italian players, from Marco Cecchinato to Fabio Fognini, Matteo Berrettini, Lorenzo Musetti, Jannik Sinner. They have a huge fanbase. If one of these six things did not happen, we would not be there. We will try to sell more tickets than the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics did. 96 people are interested to the event on a world-class level, 180 countries."
