Greg Rusedski names his favorites to win French Open

Former British tennis star Greg Rusedski says world No. 1 Novak Djokovic and second-ranked Rafael Nadal are his top two favorites to win this year's French Open title.

Djokovic, a four-time French Open finalist, won his last final at the tournament in 2016 to finally complete a Career Grand Slam.

The Serb enters the French Open in a great form, having won it all at Madrid Masters before finishing runner-up to Nadal in the Rome final.

The Spaniard's first three clay tournaments ended with semi-final defeats in Barcelona and the Masters 1000 events in Monte Carlo and Madrid.

"My joint favourite for Roland Garros in the men’s are Djokovic and Nadal," Rusedski said on Twitter.

Rusedski then placed 2018 French Open runner-up Dominic Thiem on the third place, while he listed recent Estoril champion and Madrid runner-up Stefanos Tsitsipas as his fourth favorite for the French Open crown.

"With Thiem 3rd favourite and Tsitsipas 4th favourite to win," Rusedski said.

Rusedski also mentioned Fabio Fognini, who won his maiden Masters 1000 title last month in Monte Carlo.

"The wildcard is Fognini who could lose early or make the semifinals depending on the draw," Rusedski said.

Monfils, who has had a good season so far, dreams of winning his maiden Grand Slam title in front of his home fans at Roland Garros.

"The home hope has to be Monfils who has been consistent -- which is not a word you use for the flamboyant Frenchman," Rusedski added.
