Nick Kyrgios will be punished in a hard way, says French Open chief
In an interview to Europe 1 the French Open Tournament Director Guy Forget commented on Nick Kyrgios throwing a chair in Rome. The former world No. 5 said: "In a time where we regret the controversial behaviour, we cannot complain about having a guy like this. There are people who loved John McEnroe and others who hated him, but the people who came to see him playing knew that something would happen, that the good and bad would be there. He was booed by the crowd, he took his things and left the court... I think he will be punished in a hard way. I do not know what will happen to Kyrgios. He is very talented but when goes outside the way, sometimes he exaggerates."
On the new Davis Cup format, Forget added: "I do not know what's the right way. Will this formula have the hoped success? I am not that sure. Sebastian Grosjean will go to Madrid in November with all the French players. Hopefully many French fans go but I am not sure. Look at the Japanese, Americans and Brazilians. In that moment we will raise doubts about the success of this event. We will judge it in a year or two. I was one of those players who had amazing runs in the Davis Cup, with the countries being all represented by their best players and having an amazing environment like in football. Our best emotions and biggest wins were lived wearing the t-shirt of the French Davis Cup team."
Kyrgios will play the French Open next week and then three grass tournaments: Stuttgart (where he reached last year's semifinal), Queen's and Wimbledon.
