Novak Djokovic in lethargy: will the alarm clock ring in time for Paris?

Novak Djokovic's season seems to have taken a different path, after his victory at the Australian Open in January. 

After a period of well-deserved rest, necessary to dispose of an accumulation of physical stress and recover energy after all the efforts and great successes from Wimbledon 2018 onwards, Nole came back to compete at Indian Wells, the first ATP Masters 1000 of the season.

In California, Djokovic was resoundingly eliminated in the third round by Philipp Kohlschreiber, while on the hard-courts of the new venue of the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, he was defeated in the fourth round by the Spaniard Roberto Bautista (who beat the Serb also in Doha, at the beginning of the year, in the semifinals).

With the arrival of the clay swing, Nole presented himself at the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters as one of the favorites, but his race was interrupted in the quarter-finals by Daniil Medvedev, able to recover the first set won by the seed no. 1 and close in three sets .

Nole seems to have hibernated after the Australian Open, and the real question is: will the alarm clock ring in time for the French Open? Djokovic has alternated between periods of absolute domination and moments of ups and downs in his career. After all the victories of the last seven months (three consecutive Slams and the return as world no. 1) and all the efforts, he is now going through a period in which the athletic brilliance of his tennis is not at the highest level.

This is a physiological and absolutely normal time. Between Madrid, Rome and Paris the music could already change. His physical condition needs his steel mind to be able to perform at the highest level, and in these weeks Djokovic is looking to regain the best of both. There is still a month to go before Roland Garros. A very long time and, at the same time, very little time.
