Rod Laver: It's hard to see someone beating Rafael Nadal in Paris

Through his official Twitter account, the Australian legend Rod Laver commented on Rafael Nadal winning his ninth Rome Open. "Congratulations Rafael Nadal on your victory in Rome. I’m heading to @RolandGarros in the coming weeks where I expect to see you defend for No.12. It’s hard to imagine anyone who could topple the King of Clay," wrote Laver.

Nadal's uncle Toni said: "He had reached three semi-finals earlier and one tournament was left, that's worth for the entire year. The first set was almost perfect, a very good intensity, correct tactics, high balls and I liked a lot the way he moved. In the second his intensity dropped because keeping it was difficult, but in the third, he came back again."

Looking ahead to the French Open, Toni concluded: "It's very difficult to win three sets to Rafael. He won the title 11 times and it's very tough to cope with him. He plays being calmer there. I think Novak Djokovic will be his ultimate rival there, he played very well in Madrid and he will always be his maximum opponent both on hard and clay. In Monte Carlo, he did not really play well. His level had down but when he gained back the shape, he reached his best level as he showed on Sunday."
