Roger Federer has the perfect body for tennis, says Serena Williams' coach
In an interview to ATP, Serena Williams' coach Patrick Mouratoglou praised Roger Federer's physical strength. The Frenchman believes that's the key to the Swiss player's longevity. “I think Roger has been incredibly well prepared all his career, there is no doubt about that," said Mouratoglou. "His team have done an incredible job with him. He’s probably one of the best, if not the best-prepared athlete of all in tennis."
Mouratoglou also spoke about Novak Djokovic's fitness. He said, "I think Novak is doing an incredible job too. These two guys have barely been injured. Novak had on surgery on his elbow not long ago but that’s the only thing. He’s always fit, is never injured and you feel that he is very well balanced. The other thing about Roger is that he is so loose, the way he plays, the way he moves. I think he makes much less effort than most of the guys because he is so loose and easy. It is also great prevention for his body. He has the perfect body for tennis. It is very athletic but it is very light also. I think it is very important for our sport because otherwise every time you run, change direction, jump, it is tough for the joints. (Less the) weight, the better. If you look at Roger and Novak on the men’s side, they are the best two ideal bodies. There are others, I think Grigor Dimitrov also has a great body for tennis, but that is the ideal body for tennis."
