Roger Federer: 'It feels like I have been on clay forever'
In an interview to Eurosport Roger Federer commented on how the new French Open facilities look like. "Very happy. Quite a few changes. Centre Court looks a bit different. A new court on the gardens. So also for the fans, it's gonna be quite a change but I am very excited and super happy to be here. Practice and preparations have been going great. I am three or four weeks on this surface but it feels like I have been on clay forever. So I feel quite natural and it does not take very long usually, and all I needed to know in Madrid and Rome is that I can still play on the surface, I can still be playing the big points the way I want to, I can play with all the different things, tactical elements, top spin shots, weather. Important is to enter in the French Open having full tank because it's gonna require a lot of energy and I am ready for it but point for point mentality, match by match. I have a tough first round and that's what I am looking to", said the Swiss.
On Federer, Brad Gilbert added: "Roger has been coming out hard and fast, the way Andre [Agassi] used to do. He's keeping rallies short, using the drop shot a little more and -- more than anything -- playing a game that makes his opponents uneasy. An opponent has to make him do different things to have a chance. If an opponent isn't putting him on the stretch or making him play too much defense, Roger is going to be able to play his type of tennis and make opponents uncomfortable."
