Stan Wawrinka played his best match ever against Djokovic - Coach

In an interview to Tennis Italiano, Stan Wawrinka's coach Magnus Norman recalled the Swiss player's win over Novak Djokovic in the 2015 French Open final. "His French Open final was his best match ever, one where all your balls end on the court. When he hit that one-handed backhand near the net cord, I was not even surprised. I expected him to do anything. But what surprised me, even more, was his backhand on the match point. I remember it as if it were yesterday: a good serve, Djokovic's return, Stan hit from right to left with an impressive easiness. It was a Grand Slam championship point. He made it look easy. When he is confident, he can find any solution. However, sometimes he gets frustration", said Norman.

On the beauty of Wawrinka's backhand, the Swede added: "The guy who made him have this shot was Dimitri Zavialoff, the coach who worked with him until 2010 and who helped him until when he got closer to break the top ten rankings. "The work that the training coach does gets underestimated too often. Instead, that's essential. It's the hardest work, you build it step by step and you need to be very patient although you do not get credit for that.
