Stefanos Tsitsipas is a future world No. 1, says Estoril Open TD

The Estoril Open Tournament Director Joao Zilhao was satisfied with Stefanos Tsitsipas' success in the final over Pablo Cuevas. The 20-year-old Greek was the biggest investment by the event. "Stefanos was a big bet, from the previous year, because we saw there was the future of the new generation", said Zilhao. "He won the title, that's a big joy for us because he is a player with a lot of charisma and who joins the list of former champions. He is indicated by many as the future world No. 1. At the age of 20 years, he is on the top ten rankings and in the next years, we will see him delivering a great level on all the surfaces. We want him to comeback and we are happy he wants to be back, but the cheque always needs to be there and his agent, not Stefanos, is involved in the negotiations."

Zilhao also praised Alejandro Davidovich, the lucky loser Pablo Cuevas, Joao Sousa and Joao Domingues, who was the biggest Portuguese hero in this edition and he played at a high level, after Sousa's win last year that was unforgettable and maybe unrepeatable. "This Stefanos' triumph left me very happy because he is a reference point in the world of tennis and helps us in the terms of International popularity."

More than 40,000 people attended the event, which is planned to stay in the Estoril tennis club. "We are satisfied with this venue. Sometimes changing to a bigger one is not better. I would be very sorry to switch to the Caja Magica of Madrid, that may not be the best one in terms of facilities. Adapting it to the reality of Portugal, it's okay."
