Alexei Popyrin one win away from making his dream come true at Wimbledon

Rising Australian star Alexei Popyrin says playing in the Wimbledon main draw would be a dream come true.

The 19-year-old is just a win away from fulfilling his childhood dream.

Popyrin, ranked at No. 99 in the world, defeated German Mats Moraing 6-1 3-6 6-3 in the Wimbledon qualifying second round.

The Australian cruised past the opening set as he broke Moraing twice to win the opener.

However, the German refused to quit as he broke the Australian in the fourth game and then held on to his serve to force a decider.

The two players were at 1-1 after the opening two games of the third set before Popyrin went on to win five games in a row and seal the win in style.

"It would be a dream come true honestly. I think ever since I was a kid I've been dreaming to play the main draw of Wimbledon. So obviously getting in the hard way through qualifying would be a great achievement for me," Popyrin said post-match, per Tennis Australia Twitter.

Popyrin will fight against No. 27 seed Bjorn Fratangelo for a place in the Wimbledon main draw.
