ATP Rankings: Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer maintain lead
Five of the current top-10 players were in action last week but there were no changes in the standings, with the elite group staying where it was a week ago. Novak Djokovic lost 300 points for Queen's final, deciding to skip all the official tournaments ahead of Wimbledon and play just a couple of exhibition matches, just like Rafael Nadal who is now 4470 points behind the Serb ahead of the third Grand Slam of the season. Roger Federer played in Halle for the 17th time, lifting the tenth trophy and earning 200 points after losing in the final a year ago. The Swiss saved his best tennis for the semi-final and the final, conquering 500 points to stay far in front of Dominic Thiem who opted to skip Halle and take some rest. Two-time Halle finalist Alexander Zverev had the opportunity to pass the Austrian with a deep run in Halle but that didn't happen, bowing out in the quarter-final to David Goffin to trail 190 points behind Thiem.
The young Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas was the top seed at Queen's although his debut in London wasn't that good, falling to Felix Auger-Aliassime in the second round and missing the opportunity to cut the deficit to Zverev ahead of Wimbledon. Competing for the first time since Miami, Kevin Anderson lost in the second round at Queen's to Gilles Simon, needing more time to shape up his game ahead of Wimbledon where he has to defend 1200 points for playing in the final a year ago. Karen Khachanov and Fabio Fognini complete the top-10 group and the first change comes in the positions 11 and 12, with Juan Martin del Potro passing John Isner despite the fact he was forced to withdraw from Queen's due to another knee injury that required surgery! Gael Monfils, Nikoloz Basilashvili and Milos Raonic have all moved ahead of Marin Cilic who couldn't defend the title won at Queen's a year ago.
Matteo Berrettini had another great run in Halle after winning Stuttgart, earning enough points to enter the top-20 for the first time in a career, having no ATP wins under his belt just year and a half ago! Halle runner-up David Goffin is back inside the top-25 after gaining ten positions on the list, followed by Queen's finalist Gilles Simon who grabbed 13 ranking positions for the place in the top-25 for the first time since April 2017. The 37-year-old Feliciano Lopez claimed the title at Queen's from outside the top-100, making stellar progress through the ranking and entering the top-60 for the first time in a year after 60 rivals he passed. Alexei POpyrin and Stefano Travaglia are the newest players in the top-100, both entering for the first time, with six others celebrating a career-high ranking in the top-100 this week.
