Dominic Thiem set to debut at Hurlingham exhibition

Austrian rising star Dominic Thiem will play at the Hurlingham exhibition next week. 

The 25-year-old is set to make his debut appearance at the British grass-court exhibition event. 

The Austrian will play a match against Australian Nick Kyrgios on the grass courts of Hurlingham.

Per Lukas Zagreb, the match will take place next Friday -- three days before the start of Wimbledon. 

Thiem, ranked at No. 4 in the world, opted for a short grass season.

The Austrian's initial plan for this grass season was to play in Halle and Wimbledon. 

However, an exhausting French Open campaign -- where Thiem ended runner-up -- led to the Austrian changing his mind.

The world No. 4 withdrew from this week's ATP event in Halle as he will play his first match of this grass season in Hurlingham.

Thiem will certainly be hoping to get feel the grass in Hurlingham and get a bit of rhythm and form ahead of Wimbledon. 

It remains to be seen will the Austrian's decision not to play ATP events ahead of Wimbledon turn out to be a right one.
