Week 26: Halep, Barty, Wozniacki, Svitolina and Pliskova in Eastbourne!
It will be a very interesting week before the fortnight at the All England Club of Wimbledon. There will be three tournaments, including the prestigious Nature Valley International, combined ATP/WTA on the lawns of Eastbourne.
The womens' singles on the English grass-courts tournament (WTA Premier) will be full of stars, looking for points and shape, in order to present themselves in London in perfect condition. Kiki Bertens will lead the draw. Simona Halep has accepted a wild card, but there will also be Caroline Wozniacki (defending champion), Ashleigh Barty, Elina Svitolina, Karolina Pliskova, Marketa Vondrousova and Belinda Bencic.
The men's singles (ATP 250) will have Richard Gasquet, Taylor Fritz, Guido Pella, Fernando Verdasco, Pierre-Hugues Herbert and the seed no. 1 Marco Cecchinato. The third tournament of the week will be the Antalya Open, in Turkey (ATP 250). In the roster there will be Benoit Paire, Adrian Mannarino, Bernard Tomic, Ernests Gulbis and Andreas Seppi, with Pablo Carreno Busta as seed no. 1.
This week there will also be the Aspria Tennis Cup (ATP Challenger 80, on the clay-courts of Milan, Italy). This is the start of the last week before the Championships, which will take us to the heart of the 2019 tennis season.
