ATP Washington: No. 1 seeds beat Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas
Australia's Nick Kyrgios and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas made No. 1 seeds Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah work hard in their Washington clash but that wasn't enough as the Colombians won 6-3 3-6 10-5.
As expected, Kyrgios and Tsitsipas -- who were playing together for the first time -- were vulnerable early on as the experienced Colombian duo won the opening three games of the match.
Cabal and Farah didn't give Kyrgios and Tsitsipas a single break point chance in the first set to win the opener after claiming an early break.
Cabal and Farah were threatening to break Kyrgios and Tsitsipas in the fifth game of the second set but the Australian saved a break point with a service winner.
Kyrgios and Tsitsipas then converted their first break point of the match in the following game and then held on to their serve to force a decider.
Losing the second set didn't affect Wimbledon champions Cabal and Farah as they came up big in the match tie-break to progress into the quarterfinal.
Cabal and Farah served five aces and won 92 percent of their first serve en route to clinching the win in an hour and five minutes of play.
Cabal and Farah will play next against either Leander Paes and Jack Sock or Alex de Minaur and John Peers.
