Dominic Thiem: Winning Kitzbuhel is definitely a big goal for me
Austrian tennis star Dominic Thiem remains highly motivated to win it all in Kitzbuhel despite a shock Hamburg exit.
Thiem, ranked at No. 4 in the world, has never won a title in front of his home fans in Kitzbuhel.
After a first round Wimbledon exit, Thiem returned to clay at this week's ATP event in Hamburg.
The Austrian's Hamburg campaign ended in the quarterfinal with a loss suffered to Russian Andrey Rublev.
"Next week (winning Kitzbühel) is definitely a big goal for me, and I won't let myself get thrown off track because of a defeat," Thiem said, per Tennisnet.com, as revealed by Twitter user De Nela.
Thiem came close to winning it all in 2014 but fell just short as he ended runner-up in the final to Belgium's David Goffin.
The Austrian also had a promising run in Kitzbuhel the following year before he suffered a semifinal loss to Philipp Kohlschreiber.
Thiem, seeded at No. 1 in the Kitzbuhel main draw, will have a first round bye at the tournament.
The 25-year-old will start his Kitzbuhel campaign against either Sebastian Ofner or a qualifier.
