Likely to feature Federer and Nadal, ATP Cup to generate enormous interest

There are more news on the ATP Cup that will take place in Australia from 3rd to 12th January. The men's tennis event, that is set to feature the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, will be held in Perth, Brisbane and Sydney. In Perth, the ATP Cup will replace Hopman Cup and it is likely to generate a bigger buzz and more money according to The West. If sponsors spent $3 million at the Hopman Cup, now for the ATP Cup in Perth it should go up to $12.6m. A 112 million global audience will be set, compared to 31 million for Hopman Cup. Tourism Minister Paul Papalia said: “The more we continue to secure major events like these in Perth, the more it helps boost visitor numbers and tourism spend in WA, which helps grows the economy and creates more jobs. The McGowan Government is working hard to ensure Perth is becoming host to more top-quality sporting events like the Fed Cup Final and the ATP World Cup. Perth is set to become the place to catch the world’s best tennis action later this year — after securing the Fed Cup Final in November followed by the launch of the ATP Cup in January.”

On September 17 players and schedule will be revealed.

ATP Cup will kick off the men's tennis season after an intense off-season. On the difference between training and competing, Federer said: "There should be none but sometimes you get a bit nervous. I think it's the amount of butterflies you feel in the belly that makes a difference."
