Seeing Roger Federer's big potential was easier than with Gauff - Agent
In an interview to Ubitennis, Cori Gauff's agent Tony Godsick spoke about American player's breakthrough in Wimbledon. Gauff beat Venus Williams in the first round and lost to Simona Halep in the fourth round.
Godsick saw some huge potential in Gauff straight forward. On the differences between his co-operation with Roger Federer and Gauff, Godsick said: "When I started working with Federer he had already won five Grand Slam titles and he was the No. 1 in the world, so it was easier to understand there was some potential. Obviously, Coco is a young talent, she is just 15 years old but behaves in an extremely professional way, she works hard, she likes the big stages and here she was given the chance to play on a very important court in front of her idol. Two things can happen: either you get overwhelmed by emotions or you embrace the challenge and give the best of yourself. Luckily, she was able to pick the second option. It was very emotional to watch her win, but you should not expect it to be a routine. Because of her age, there are still some rules on the number of tournaments she can play in, she is still growing as a player and person and our role is to work with her parents and team so that the environment around herself is an ideal one. In a press conference, she speaks like a veteran does and not as a newcomer. Since I have been knowing her, she was always able to speak with people and to behave in the right way. She grew very well, she has two amazing brothers, very educated too, so you can tell their parents gave daughter and boys a quality education."
