Simona Halep is the ‘ideal sportsman’ – Coach Dobre
In a Marius Tuca Show interview, Simona Halep’s coach, Daniel Dobre, unraveled one of the personal attributes of the Wimbledon champion that contributed enormously to the successes of her career.
"She is never late, can you imagine that? This doesn't exist. To be late is an offense. It seems like an ordinary thing, but in a sport where strictness makes the difference between hitting the ball two centimeters out or not, the idea of punctuality leads to perfection.", said Dobre on Marius Tuca Show.
Dobre praised Halep’s dedication as he knew her since she was young: "She is the ideal sportsman, total, almost perfect, as perfection doesn't exist. I know her since her junior years. I trained other girls from her generation who were playing with her. From her generation, Simona was one of the lasts to make the jump, to win tournaments"
Moreover, Simona’s coach unveiled the fact that her junior years trainer recognized her great potential before she made it to top 50: “She always played well. Even the coach who helped her make the move from juniors to seniors, Firicel Tomai, who is a good friend of mine, working daily with her, told me that she has what it takes to be number one. This happened when Simona was on 60-70th place in the world and played one final. She always showed clear signs that she can be high."
