It's nice that players still show their emotions, says Roger Federer

In an interview to The New Yorker, Roger Federer gave his thoughts on some of the most controversial players on Tour. Nick Kyrgios breaks rackets and argues with umpires quite often. The Swiss said: "It's good that the guy shows his temper. Because that's how I felt when I was younger. And it's nice that it still exists. I understand people get upset because it still happens to me in practice nowadays, I feel super frustrated as well sometimes. Because tennis is a sport where you are gonna mistakes, I do not care who you are, this just happens. I do not want to be that kind of player with that attitude. For the sake of winning, I changed my attitude."

Federer also reflected on the sort of bad side of being a professional player: "For me, it's been not sad but unfortunate that I had to give up doing other sports. When I was younger I used to play squash with my friends, ping pong even before a match. I used to go skiing after the Australian Open in Switzerland. And then all of a sudden you are like, Well, maybe I should stop that because I do not want to end my career that way, I do not want to break my knee and then you realize, I can find something else that is a lot of fun. Your life is different, you have children, you go play in the park. It's a totally different life. I do miss the years when I was a teenager and I was doing anything just because I could and I was still trying to understand what being professional really means."
