Rafael Nadal's intensity is brutal, says hitting partner
In an interview to AS Alejandro Garcia Cerzano spoke about the hitting partner's life. The Spaniard said: "In 2017 I started being a hitting partner in the Mutua. I loved it. You go as a volunteer but it's worth it. You need to have a certain level to do it and contacts so that they call you. I asked WTA to make a hitting partners schedule so that you can travel all over the world."
"They ask me to play like their opponents. I had to copy Kasatkina, Azarenka, Kvitova... They give you tips on what they want you to do."
Recalling the first time he hit with Rafael Nadal, Cerzano said: "I was nervous, it was packed and he was hitting strong from the first ball. It's brutal, like Thiem, who is very intense too. But Rafa is unbelievable. Two years ago i was in Cincinnati with him when he became world No. 1 and that week I trained with Garbine Muguruza, who achieved it too."
On Nick Kyrgios, he said something really interesting which says a lot about the Australian: "He once asked me to hit with him and we stayed on the court only for three minutes. He went there wearing basketball shoes and headphones."
