Alex de Minaur not fan of complaining about conditions, playing surfaces

Rising Australian star Alex de Minaur says the conditions at the Zhuhai Championships this week haven't been ideal but he is not a fan of complaining about conditions and playing surfaces.

De Minaur, seeded at No. 7, overcame fourth-seeded Croatian Borna Coric 6-2 4-6 6-4 in two hours and 18 minutes of play to reach the semifinal at the inaugural edition of Zhuhai.

The Australian has now managed to win back-to-back long and exhausting matches as he needed two hours and 42 minutes of play on Thursday against former world No. 1 Andy Murray.

"Well, I don't like to complain about conditions and playing surfaces, how the ball's playing," de Minaur said, as revealed by Reem Abulleil on Twitter. "At the end of the day complaining about it is not going to get you anywhere.

"So I know it's tough conditions, I know it's hot, I know it's humid, I know it's slow, very long rallies, but I still got to go out there and do everything in my power to keep fighting for every point.

"And if I have got that in my head before the match, then it's only negative thoughts and you don't want none of that."

It remains to be seen how will de Minaur recover for a tough semifinal meeting against second-seeded Roberto Bautista Agut.
