Juan Martin del Potro to return from knee surgery at Stockholm Open
Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro has signed up to play the Stockholm Open as that will be his first tournament since undergoing a knee surgery, per Alex Theodoridis of Tennisportalen.
The 30-year-old last played at the Queen's Club, where he badly injured his knee after slipping on the grass during his first round clash against Denis Shapovalov.
The Argentine managed to finish the match against the Canadian and claim a straight-set win but he later pulled out from his round-of-16 match against Feliciano Lopez.
Del Potro, ranked at No. 16 in the world, is set to make his fifth appearance on the indoor-hard courts of Stockholm.
Former world No. 3 del Potro has enjoyed success in his previous campaign at the Swedish capital as he captured back-to-back titles at the tournament in 2016 and 2017.
Del Potro is the third player confirmed for Stockholm as world No. 11 Fognini and rising Canadian star Shapovalov have also commuted to play the tournament.
The Stockholm Open will be held from October 14-20.
