People speak too much about Nick Kyrgios, says Feliciano Lopez

In an interview to Efe, Feliciano Lopez spoke about Nick Kyrgios making controversies. The Spaniard said: "Kyrgios gives many reasons to speak about himself because when he plays well and he is focused he is one of the most amazing players that nowadays you can see. When he behaves in a bad you have to punish him, but for example in Cincinnati, when the match ended people were speaking more about Kyrgios than the match winner. I think there is too much buzz around him. Without a doubt, I think he will be calmer in 2020 and that there will no longer be incidents."

On how it feels to have played 71 Grand Slams in a row so far, Lopez added: "It's a number, more than anything. Everything that is behind to get there is what makes me excited. Not the fact that I go to Australia making my 72th, and that if I go to the French Open it's 73. I do not think about it. What makes me proud is everything I did to get to that number and being for almost 20 years on the elite without missing any Grand Slams. That's what makes me excited and keep having the desire to train and to stay physically fit to be able to compete against players who are 15 or 17 years younger than me. It's not the number itself, but everything that is behind to achieve such a number."

Lopez will skip the Shanghai Masters where he reached the semifinals back in 2014 and he will enjoy some rest ahead of the remaining tournaments in the season.
