Rafael Nadal being fit at 33 years of age is amazing, says pundit
The former world No. 1 Jim Courier praised Rafael Nadal's win over Marin Cilic at the US Open. The American said: "With Nadal, he is usually so good at standing really deep to return serve and quickly getting back up on top of the baseline. But Cilic has a big firepower off of both wings and he was just letting the arrows fly and force Nadal to stay left right, right left instead of up and back which is what Nadal wanted to do. So that was what was so critical about that adjustement. Nadal just started on the top of baseline on the second serve returns and then he did not concede his grounds, so that was a smart move for Rafa."
Jon Wertheim added: "I am still struck by the health of Nadal. He has been so many times here injured where it's the fourth Major of the year, hard courts. There has been no talk about Rafa Nadal physically, that's so nice to see especially at the age of 33."
Diego Schwartzman faces Nadal next. The Argentine feels confident: "I know my serve is not the best, but I'm doing good things, good first service, to have the second ball easy, if I can say that. Yeah, like you said, it's not just the return. I need to be very, very focused in my serve. I think these two weeks I'm doing good things with my serve."
