Kei Nishikori to play doubles with Ben McLachlan at Tokyo Olympics
Japanese tennis ace Kei Nishikori is planning to play doubles with Ben McLachlan at the Tokyo Olympics, per NHK Sports.
World No. 7 Nishikori knows it will be a "bit demanding" to play both singles and doubles but he wants to "take advantage of the opportunity on home soil."
Nishikori, 29, and 27-year-old McLachlan have played alongside each other only once so far in their careers.
Nishikori and McLachlan debuted as a pair on the grass courts of Halle last year.
Back then, the Japanese duo didn't have a memorable debut as they got beaten in their Halle opener by Marcel Granollers and Robin Haase.
Also, Nishikori may play mixed doubles event with Naomi Osaka.
Nishikori will explore the possibility of teaming up with Osaka but underlines that playing three events at the Olympics might be too much for him.
Nishikori has already underlined that his big goal is to win a medal in the singles event at the Tokyo Olympics next year.
The Japanese, who won the Bronze medal at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016, will now be aiming to go a step further and make a splash in Tokyo.
