Karen Khachanov: 'Novak Djokovic says I am master of tennis'
In an interview Karen Khachanov revealed something interesting about his relationship with Novak Djokovic. The Russian player said: "I met Novak in 2016, when we started playing against each other. We trained together a couple of times. He is an open person and he can also give advices. He fools me around all the time and he tells me I am a master of tennis. I am like, What stupid things are you saying? He likes joking."
Asked about the strengths of the Big Three players, Khachanov added: "As for Federer, serve and forehand. He has the best forehand in tennis. Nadal - his mentality, mind, fight, he never gives up. A machine! When you play a bit worse, you can lose 6-0. Djokovic - his backhand and movement. It does not matter how old they are, if they are still on the top 3 rankings, it says a lot. Anyways, I would like to be No. 1 while they are still playing. I am happy to face them in some events. I am happy to have beaten Djokovic in Paris final. They win Grand Slams all the time but now you have Medvedev, Tsitsipas and Zverev who are next to tennis legends. We are all at a good level and we have to be aware that we are not that far from then. We just have to be relaxed and seek our goals."
Khachanov played his last tournament in Wimbledon losing to Roberto Bautista Agut in the third round.
