Rafael Nadal after loss v Roger Federer: 'I am neither satisfied nor proud'

Speaking to the Spanish press, Rafael Nadal analyzed his loss to Roger Federer in the Wimbledon semi-finals. The world no. 2 said: "I have not played good enough to win. I cannot be proud or satisfied. There will be time to analyze. In general, he was better than me. I will not need three weeks to recover from the loss. When you play matches of this level you have to be prepared to win and lose. Not even winning is great not losing is so dramatic. I go home knowing I made an effort. I reached the semifinals and I will recover more sooner than later. I will go home to disconnect after three consecutive weeks of competition. It will be good. In the first set, there were many free points. But it was not an amazing first set. If there are many free points it's not good. I was not that good on return. He needs to feel more pressure when he serves because otherwise, he struggles less mentally."

Asked when he will be back on Tour, Nadal replied: "I do not know my future calendar."

Meanwhile, Nadal's coach Francis Roig assessed Rafael's clay-court season: "Considering what happened in Monte Carlo and Barcelona, I would have signed for those results because after Indian Wells he stopped training and disconnected a bit. He saw himself competitive against Dominic Thiem in Barcelona and then he improved."
