Roger Federer and Kei Nishikori to face each other in Japan - Here is when

More details were revealed about the charity exhibition match that Roger Federer will play in Tokyo, Japan, at the Ariake Coliseum. The event will take place on Monday October 14 2019, just after the Rolex Shanghai Masters ends. The main sponsor will be Uniqlo.

The exhibition will feature Federer, the fellow Uniqlo ambassador Kei Nishikori, the golfer Adam Scott and the two wheelchair tennis players Shingo Kunieda and Gordon Reed. It's the second time that Federer plays in Japan after 2006 when he won the Rakuten Open. The tickets sale will start in a few weeks and a part of the income will be sent to charity activities promoted by Uniqlo. Federer and Nishikori will play a singles match followed by the one between Kunieda and Reed.

The Uniqlo CEO Tadashi Yanai said: "We are happy to invite our global ambassadors in Tokyo to play a charity match. This tennis match will help our social activity."

In an interview to a Japanese TV channel a few days ago, Federer had already announced himself. The Swiss player said: "I will be also coming to Japan to play in October, so maybe find out when it's gonna be, who it's gonna be, it's gonna be Tokyo, it's gonna be so much fun, I can't wait!" Last year Federer had said he was planning to get several Japanese players involved. The world No. 3 will have some busy weeks after the US Open as he will also play the Laver Cup in Chicago.
