Roger Federer happy to bring Nadal, Laver, McEnroe and Borg in Geneva
Roger Federer shared his feelings in a press conference after winning the Laver Cup. The Swiss said: "We are all so tired but happy that Alexander Zverev could clinch the win. Personally, I am also happy to be able to bring legends like Laver, McEnroe, Borg and Nadal in the Palexpo Hall. It was very nice to me. I consider the event as a success and hope everyone sees it this way. The idea of the Laver Cup has always been to make people happy for tennis.
"It was very emotional," Federer added. "Imagine playing for three days in front of 17,500 fans that support you, even the other players who support you, you can spend a week with Borg, Rafa and all the other players who will hopefully become legends - it means a lot to me. There are many emotions involved."
Nadal said that winning for a team is better than winning alone. Asked if he agrees, Federer replied: "It was always like this and I get very emotional also in the Davis Cup or Hopman Cup. The more people are there, the more powerful it gets. In case of a win, it's even bigger and when you lose, the others help you. So it was the case with us too. It was an absolutely great week for us."
Asked how they would celebrate, Federer concluded: "It's a closed little situation, unfortunately. And it will not be opened up. And we are going to have dinner, and for those who have even more stamina left, it's going to be a last-man-standing competition tonight. I don't think that I'm going to be the winner of that competition, but I'll give it a go."
