Medvedev: 'Being behind Federer, Nadal, Djokovic is very nice'

Daniil Medvedev spoke about the great season he is having. The Russian reached a Grand Slam final and a Masters 1000 championship clash among the many things. "For me that's the result of the hard work I did. It's nice because I had an unbelievable season this year and the results are the consequences of my level. Being the fourth after the three greatest players ever is very nice", he said referring to Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. "In life, I try to stay myself: that's very useful. Also, like before, I try to play with my friends on Fantasy League. I go back home and I play PlayStation with my friend", said Medvedev.

Medvedev also spoke about how his last two months have been like: "It's probably the biggest wave I ever went through in my career. You cannot compare anything to it. That's true. The higher the wave is, the tougher is to fall. It's true, I understand how important it is to keep working hard. In tennis it's impossible to stay on one place. Either you grow as a player, you raise every day or you fall. Even if you stay on the same rankings position, you have to keep working hard on yourself. Do not stop doing it and try to be the best."

On the keys of his success, the Moscow native concluded: "There are many reasons, but I will try to highlight the two main ones: the first one is the hard work I did especially over the last two years and a half, of course, I mean, from six years of age but especially over the last two years. And the second thing is the experience, because I always say experience is very important for me. In my first season on the ATP Tour I never won a Masters 1000 match but only in a Grand Slam against Stan Wawrinka. It was a strange match. But at the same time, every tournament I play in, every tournament I win or reach finals in, I gain an unbelievable amount of experience which helped me to reach such heights this season."
