Roger Federer looks like God at Wimbledon, says Matteo Berrettini
Matteo Berrettini drew the differences between facing Rafael Nadal at the US Open and Roger Federer at Wimbledon. The 23-year-old Rome native said: "Of course playing against Nadal is always difficult, especially at the best of five sets. I am very safisfied with the match I have played. The only regret are the two sets points on 6-4 in the first set tie-break, and in one of them I made an easy forehand unforced error. That's tennis, but I am more than safisfied with the tournament I have played overall."
"With Nadal I was not scared", added Berrettini. "Definitely the experience against Federer at Wimbledon was useful mentally. Federer has always been my childhood idol. My dream was always to play against him on the Wimbledon Central Court, which is my second favorite court after Rome. Federer is able to make you get confused, hitting slices, drop shots, changing rhythm, hitting unpredictable serves, you never know where you can serve. He manages to mix things up, he is almost God when he plays. Nadal makes you struggle physically, you need to hold up a very high intensity and he always has more energy than you."
Berrettini confirmed he is dating his girlfriend Alja Tomljanovic: "We met for the first time at Wimbledon. I was very happy that she came to watch my match against Andrey Rublev, then I was doing the same thing while she was playing. It's nice that we managed to spend some time together."
