Federer: 'Health and family, not rankings and titles, are my priorities'

Roger Federer spoke about what's next for him after winning the Basel's Swiss Indoors. The 38-year-old explained why he is doubtful about playing the Paris Masters or not. "I am not afraid of hurting if I went to Paris", said Federer. "But last year in London I had a stiff back. My goal is to be at my best in London, and even if I cannot win, I want all things to be balanced. I played Grand Slams well this year. But unfortunately not everything worked. Yes, that may make the ATP Finals even more important for me. The level is there as well as the self confidence. I trained at my best over the last six months, it could not be better."

Federer will speak about his schedule for the next 12 months with his team: "We will discuss about everything. How we can organize everything. I start from my family. It's important where my children, my wife and I feel the happiest on Tour. I want to spend as much time as possible with my children. I do not want to be without them too often. So we have to discuss on how to prepare to the tournaments. All the trips. Where I want to reach my peak. And also how important the rankings are. I do not have to play a lot to play very well. I often play better when I am relaxed and full of energy. We do not have such big conversations very often, just twice a year. Health and family are the priorities. Everything is surrounded by it. Not rankings or titles."
