Joe Salisbury e Rajeev Ram eager to clinch Nitto ATP Finals spot
Great Britain's Joe Salisbury used the word "huge" to describe winning the Swiss Indoors Vienna doubles title with partner Rajeev Ram as the Briton is hoping to fulfill his goal of playing at the Nitto ATP Finals in London.
Salisbury and Ram, seeded at No. 4, produced a big performance in the Vienna final to beat top-seeded Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo 6-4 6-7 (5) 10-5 and lift their second title of the season.
"Our eyes have been very closely on [London]. So [this win] is huge for us,” Salisbury admitted, per the ATP website. “It has been one of my goals since the start of the year, but even more so in the past few months, to make it to London. That is a massive, massive step to get there."
Five teams have secured a spot at the Nitto ATP Finals, which will be held from November 10-18 at The O2 Arena in London.
"We are in a hustle for the last few spots in London, so there were a lot of things at stake," Ram said. "You don’t want to talk about it before, but we all know it is there. We have come together well at the end of the season and it is nice to see the work paying off with the results."
