In an interview with ESPN, United States's Davis Cup team captain Mardy Fish spoke about the inaugural Davis Cup Finals in Madrid. Fish believes there was too much of a difference in terms of attendance between the central court and the secondary courts: "It's a problem that while Spain is playing to 12,500 spectators, and (Novak) Djokovic is out there on the next-door court with maybe 1,500 people watching.
