Pierre-Hugues Herbert e Nicolas Mahut react to beating No. 1 team

Herbert and Nicolas Mahut came afrom  set down in each set to beat Colombia's Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah 6-3 7-5.

"It was a great match for us,” Herbert said after the match, per the Nitto ATP Finals website. “It was a high-level match from both sides and we knew we needed to be good against the No. 1 team. We’re so happy with the level we played. To come through this first match is something special for us."

Cabal and Farah, who claimed back-to-back titles at Wimbledon and the US Open, entered the ATP Finals aiming to win another big title.

Mahut knows how tough it is to play against Cabal and Farah as he and Edouard Roger-Vasselin were edged out by the Colombians in a five-set Wimbledon final this past July.

"I remember well how they won Wimbledon, as I was on the other side of the court [with Edouard Roger-Vasselin]," Mahut said. "Today we made the best start at the [Nitto] ATP Finals in our five appearances here. We’re really happy to have won today and will keep trying to win.”
